Demon Child
Poor Hana was very ill on her bday with excessively high temp after our trip to Sydney and a nappy rash from kindy that wasn't getting any better despite the usual creams. We had a DR visit us at home that night who said she had croup and that the nappy rash was in fact dermatitis.
The next day we administered all the prescribed medication and she stayed home with Nanny B. Turned out she had a pretty crazy day with Hana irritable and not eating. Put it down to the sickness. Then the next day from the time she woke she was crying, screaming, pushing, kicking and in fit of rage for hours. Wouldn't eat or drink, just crying non stop. Nothing would calm her down except when she'd pass out from exhaustion. As soon as she woke up she was back at it again. She kept at it the whole way in the car to the DR surgery, then in the waiting room, shopping centre and return trip. I had to get Adam to come home early as I was beside myself.
After checking her obs which were all normal, the DR said that it could just be that she's been sick and it's a normal 2 year old behaviour and told me not to pick her up until she stopped crying. Yeah, nice try. She also, mentioned a UTI or a side effect of the croup medication and to stop using it. So, there I was at the DR surgery thinking that I was the biggest failure as a parent, not being able to control my screaming child.
Turns out it was the medication `Redipred' contains steroid which made her go in to a fit of rage. When we stopped using it, her behaviour returned to normal by the afternoon. One of my Mum friends mentioned same thing happened to her daughter. Next day she was back to her normal self, demons exorcised!

My goodness! I feel for you...Nikola had croup back in Nov and was also prescribed steroid but according to the paediatrican, it's the mildest form (of steroid) and to only use it for 2 days. Lucky for us he didn't have any demonic side effects! Although at times, his "normal" behavior these days make me wonder if he's been possessed by the devil. How is her croup though? Better? Big kiss to ex-demon child :-)
Wow, what an experience, hope she is feeling better now and her nappy rash is getting better :(
