Although, sad that Hana will no longer be a wee compact baby content to sit and chew on a rusk, at 14 months the inevitable active little toddler is emerging. Being part of her every day means that we are sometimes immune to the great leaps during the course of her development.
Now, she is really responding to conversation and nods her head in acknowledgement. Often in response to pointing at the fruit bowl from her high chair (Directors chair) and confering that she is in fact after a banana/pear/all of the above. This morning, Adam asked her where the pen was for her magna sketch and surprisingly she went to her pony, grabbed it out of the basket to give it to him. Lots of direction, like `up' when she wants to be picked up and `nana' when she wants a banana. With a love of books, when asked where something is, she will point to it. Interesting that at such a young age they can identify the same thing either animate/inanimate. She also role plays with her dolls and teddies, the latest is putting her finger to her lips and saying shhhhh while patting them on the back.
For the last few weeks, we have had some major changes in our daily schedule. With Adam no longer working from home, Nanny B going away and Hana starting kindy/care with Nanny Woo a few times a week. So, for the third Tuesday Hana headed off to kindy with Adam. The first couple of times she really cried when it came time for Daddy to leave, but this Tuesday sitting on the Kindy Leader's lap she crumpled up her little face, but held back the tears. Thankfully, I have the not so arduous task of picking her up from kindy after work. On the first two occasions I found Hana laid out with her head on one of the Carer's laps reading a story. They tell me she's going really well and sticks to her normal sleep routine. Really amazing to hear that she can fall asleep in the middle of a busy playroom on a mattress while being pat on the back.
With Nanny Woo looking after Hana every Monday, a similar pattern happened and by week 3 she is at ease with Mum too.
