Pulling the plug at the last minute

Seems like the two week honeymoon phase is over. The turning point came at the end of week 2 when we arrived back from Nath & Abby's wedding. Late night wakefulness and consistent hungry (or as I call it `aungry' - cross between hungry and angry) cries after one or more feeds. We quickly learned that this could signify the turning point as bubs goes through a `growth spurt'. Geez she'd never been awake in between entire feeds (2 hours seems like an eternity). We soon learned this week at the child health clinic that in fact she had shot up a whopping 3cm as well as stacked on 500gram and when you are only 3.085kg that is significant. Also, noticing that she is much more alert and taking in her surrounds as well as startling at sudden loud noise.

Planning social events seems a little out of the question at this age. Friday night we headed out for Amy's birthday dinner at New Farm only to be faced with a `aungry' baby with an insatiable appetite. So, as ended up parked across the road from the restaurant with airconditioning blasting while feeding and trying to soothe an inconsolably `aungry' baby. We ended up having to pull the plug on our plans and zoom home with baby latched on to my breast in a bumpy car. As we approached home, of course she passes out allowing us to have dinner out on our own.
